Grängesberg
It all began in Dalarna County, where Grängesberg Brewery was established in 1897. In 1923, Louis Spendrup, grandfather of Jens and Ulf Spendrup, acquired the brewery for SEK 65,000. At the time, the brewery produced 700 bottles of beer per day. Today, we brew a total of approximately 500,000,000 liters of beer annually in our 4 breweries. The brewery in Grängesberg accounts for the largest proportion of production, closely followed by Vårby Brewery.
In 1982, Grängesbergs Bryggeri AB changed its name to Spendrups Bryggeri AB and, in 1997, the brewery celebrated its centenary

Vårby
In 1989, Spendrups had reached its production ceiling in Grängesberg. Since much of the beer produced in Grängesberg was transported through the forests of Dalarna County to Stockholm, the company searched for a facility close to the capital city. Accordingly, Spendrups Bryggeri AB acquired Wårby Bryggeri from Kooperativa Förbundet (KF).
In 2004, the family chose to relocate the head office closer to the operation. A new office was constructed adjacent to the brewery, which is still in use today.

Hellefors
Hellefors Brewery was established in the 1930's by Charles Holmstrand. Today Hellefors Brewery is to a high degree specialized in production of private label beverages.
In April 2008 Spendrups Bryggeri AB acquired all Hellefors stocks and by this merger Sweden’s largest brewery was formed.

Right in the heart of Visby lies Gotland’s Brewery. It is Spendrups smallest facility and it is here the brewmasters brew, develop, refine and test various beers. All of this work is conducted with the aim of producing the finest brew.
